Capivara Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 29, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Capivara ("we", "us", or "the app") handles your information. By using Capivara, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address, display name, and (optionally) profile picture. We do not collect or store your password.

App usage data. We store your habits, completions, streak, capicoins balance, and shop purchases. For free users this stays on your device only. For premium subscribers, a copy is also stored on our servers so you can restore your data when reinstalling or switching devices.

Photos for habit verification. Some habits use your camera to verify completion (for example, photographing a glass of water). Photos are sent to Google Gemini for AI verification and are not stored after analysis. We never upload photos to third-party services other than Google Gemini for this purpose.

Motion data. Exercise habits use your device's motion sensors to count repetitions. This data is processed locally on your device and never leaves it.

Screen Time data (iOS). Capivara uses Apple's Family Controls and Screen Time APIs to help you block selected apps during focus sessions. This data is processed locally by iOS; we never see which apps you block or how long you use them.

Subscription data. If you subscribe to Capy Plus, RevenueCat processes the purchase on our behalf and tells our backend that you have an active subscription. We do not see your payment details — those are handled directly by Apple or Google.

Crash and analytics data. We use Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics to detect and fix bugs and to understand how the app is used in aggregate. These services may collect device model, OS version, anonymized identifiers, and crash logs.

2. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We do not show third-party advertising. We do not use your data to train machine learning models.

3. Third-Party Services

Capivara relies on the following services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

4. Data Retention

Local data on your device persists until you uninstall the app or sign out. Server-side data for premium subscribers persists for the duration of your subscription plus 90 days after cancellation, after which it may be deleted. You can request earlier deletion at any time (see Section 6).

5. Children's Privacy

Capivara is rated for users 12 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us data, please contact us so we can delete it.

6. Your Rights

7. Security

Local data is stored using AES-encrypted storage. Data sent to our servers is transmitted over HTTPS. Firebase Auth tokens are short-lived and refreshed automatically.
